“For this new room we needed a flexible solution covering external and internal use in the new space, and Insight delivered. We are very happy with the room technology and space, and it gives the Kings Fund additional capacity for fee paying business”.
Gareth Halstead — Events Manager
The Client
The Kings Fund is an independent charitable organisation working to improve health and care in the UK. As part of the organisation’s fund raising profile, the meeting spaces within the building (located in central London) are available to hire and of the 30 meeting rooms – the spaces vary from small meeting rooms to a 282-seat lecture theatre.
The Brief
The Kings Fund are very particular about the facilities they require because the function rooms are both hired out for meetings and used internally. They needed the capability to run meetings with an on-site engineer who can make necessary adjustments during the meetings. Additionally, they required a system that is user-friendly for internal meetings, which poses certain challenges.
The Solution
Insight designed, specified, and presented a solution that coped with all the different room scenarios – offering a degree of control and limited access for the internal room usage, but offering full control and access for engineer driven meetings. The system was designed using Dante audio solutions and AVoIP to cover video. Opting for a network option allows complete flexibility of signal routing both within the room and outside – linking different spaces accordingly.
Insight specified a system based on QSC DSP processors and NV AVoIP solutions – using the QSC network configured switchers.
For the Maynard Room – the space has a partition so can be used as one, or separated into two separate rooms – and the solution had to address the different room setups. The audio is managed by a QSC Core 110f DSP that links to a Dante based sound desk from Allen & Heath. Different microphone set ups could be routed to the desk depending on what the engineer wants set up. The NV AVoIP solution allowed any encoded signal to be routed to any of the projectors and displays within the room. Control is via the QSC core and 10” controller.
Alex Springer – who runs the engineering team said “we are getting to grips with how the system works for us, and Insight are working with us to cover our most used scenarios. The system is flexible and anything I have requested – has been available so I am very pleased with the outcome and the sound and vision elements are first class!”
For the Seacole room – the same equipment has been used for audio and video switching and routing. The microphones are Shure MXA ceiling microphones and a mixture of MXW HH, lapel and gooseneck microphones. An IR induction loop was installed from Williams AV.
A Lumens camera solution was installed for events and hybrid meeting activities for clients. A Yealink solution was installed to enable one touch join for internal meetings.
